# File attachments

Open and download the files attached to a Form Plume submission. Access is checked before a short-lived download link is created, and the link expires.

Uploaded files stay attached to the submission that created them.

Open the submission and select a file to download it. Form Plume checks your access before creating a short-lived download URL.

Attachments are listed inside each submission alongside the field they came from, so you can tell which upload belongs to which question. Every download generates a new authorized link, which means you can request the same file again at any time without the earlier link staying valid.

## Files are not public URLs

Do not copy the temporary download address into a website or long-lived message. It expires and requires a fresh authorized request later.

## What happens to stored files

Pending or rejected uploads do not appear as complete attachments. Deleting the submission also schedules its stored files for removal.
